Uh-huh . . . like they'd describe it any other way. The only people that should have been there are Lions staff and Georgia staff and Stafford people, which of course means that everyone there had a vested interest in making sure the reports of the report were "flawless". If the Lions are going to put up a front that they really want Stafford, then at the 11th hour announce they're going a different direction, that's the only way they can create a trade market for a pick that, currently, nobody wants.
Of course, maybe it's for real. Maybe they went down there with a game plan to rattle Stafford, and instead he completely blew them away. If that's the case, then we as Lions fans should be thrilled . . . if he really is the complete package, then get that kid in Honolulu Blue and get him up on a podium! I'm still intensely conflicted about this, because you could build the best defense of all time with the studs the Lions have passed on in the past five years. However, it's indisputable by anyone who understands the game of football: the guy who holds the ball on every snap is the guy who can make the most difference to a franchise. You can hide a bad QB with a phenomenal team, but a great QB can cure a lot of ills. We might just follow the Indy model: draft a stud wideout, be atrocious, draft a stud QB to go with your WR, win a few games, add one more piece of the puzzle with a top-ten pick, and then dominate for a decade.
Deep breaths, folks. Deep breaths. We might have a football team come September, yet.

I am so confused. Mayhew is a good high stakes poker player...maybe the ultimate if he can weasel out a draft if thats what he wants.
I must say that if the rumors are true, then I am excited because yes we do need a QB. I just want us to take the best player available, and if Stafford can be better than Curry, then I suppose thats what we should do.
Then again, this could very well be another ploy to increase Stafford's trade appeal.
If we decide to take the pick at 1, then I am thinking stafford becomes the most likely candidate now.
hopefully martin's on the phones right now trying to get a deal done for cutler .. also hope that this isn't an april fool's joke.
I think we'll know in the next few days if this is all a ploy to land Cutler. Although I have to admit, I'm not as excited about Cutler as I was two weeks ago. I really think that even if Cook is pulling the strings as PFT has suggested, that Cutler needs to make some decisions of his own.
I still think he's one of the best young QB's in the game, the only guy I think I'd want more is Roethlsdl;kjsd;ihsdfjsdifj;berger.

bowlen has told several news outlets that this isn't a joke and he's dead serious about trading jay.
charles robinson also said that cook def wouldn't mind having cutler in detroit since he also represents CJ.
maybe going 0-16 was a blessing in disguise if we're able to land jay. just saying.

Obviously, I went and posted on this whole Cutler deal; it's absolutely for real and it's completely crazy. That the Lions are right at the heart of this is something I'm still amazed by. Many have soured on Cutler because of the way he's handled this; to me you can't possibly make that judgment based on everything being based on hearsay. It's clear that Cutler is supremely confident--if I already sat atop the world in my chosen profession, I probably would be, too. It's also clear that Josh McDaniels thinks he's a lot smoother than he really is . . .

Yeah, it's kind of hard to think of Cutler as the bulletproof savior of the franchise when he's dragged this situation out like this--then again, we still have no idea what was really said to him either before or after. The fact remains that many of the best quarterbacks ever: Favre, Elway, Unitas, all the way back to Sammy Baugh, have been fierce competitors who had practically infinite faith in their own ability.
I'd rather have a chip-on-his-shoulder Cutler, a kid with more talent in his nonthrowing pinky than practically any quarterback to wear a Lions jersey has had in their entire bodies, than . . . well, practically any quarterback to wear a Lions jersey.
