I don't think it really means anything at this point.

I agree. No reason to panic. Stafford's pro-day and Wonderlic? Now that's a reason to panic. ;) (for the Curry fans anyhow)

I wouldn't worry a bit. If they're really going to make an effort to trade back, they can't admit they're interested in Aaron Curry I think.

The Rams and Chiefs are almost certainly LT hunting and if the Seahawks aren't QB shopping, they should be. Hasselbeck has had 2 or 3 good years as a starter, and well, other than that he's tried real hard.

I guess ultimately, I just cannot believe Curry isn't in the Lions conversation. His combine numbers are eye popping. He's certainly saying all the right things about the Lions. He seems like the kind of guy you'd want on your team.

Conversely, the Lions picked up JP who coincidentally plays basically the same position. Since then the conversation between the Lions and the Curry has been somewhat more one-sided to me. Also, one could certainly make the argument tieing up 15-20 mil a year in your LB corps is stupid, no matter how good they are.

At this point, I have seen nothing but man-love from you in the direction of Martin Mayhew. So I'd suggest you keep the faith brother and let it all play out.

you know all about 'man love' don't you jim? ya, that's what i thought.

anyway....got a peek at the new lions logo [hopefully] on nfl.com and man, it looks a million times better than the original, i think. of course all the whiny ass bitches at mlive.com are there pissing and moaning about it, but i think it looks pretty damn sweet.

too lazy to post the link, but it's on the nfl shop page so go find it yourself.

Anon--

You got that right about the new logo. I'll throw it up real quick-like.

Anon 1 & TimT--

You guys might be right . . . they might view Curry as the "insurance" option, coming the cheapest anyway. Or, Curry might be under a gag order. Or . . . we apply Occam's Razor and say that the simplest explanation is correct: the Lions have started negotiations with their #1 pick candidates, and that doesn't include Aaron Curry.

I gotta give Stafford props on that Wonderlic, though as I said in the Dhani Jones post I think that there is a phsyical intelligence that isn't necessarily related to book smarts. And it's not like that Wonderlic retroactively improves the way he played the game at Georgia, either. Still, probably better than I could have done.

Peace
Ty

Jim--

That is good advice, my friend. There are lies, damned lies, and NFL teams' pre-draft press conferences. You pretty much can't believe anything at this point, so all you can do is cross your fingers . . . the draft can't get here soon enough.

Peace
Ty
