Fireside Chat, Week 13
>> 12.05.2011
Kind of an odd duck this week. I was broadcasting from just before halftime, but forgot to hit “record” at the beginning of the actual show. The first few minutes were absolutely sparkling, just unbelievably riveting. Seriously, best radio segment since the Gettysburg Address.
Trust me.
What got recorded includes the Q&A portion, as well my attempt a play-by-playing a few series. This is an experiment that may or may not continue.
As always, subscribe (and rate!) the podcast on iTunes if iTunes is your thing.

I think I may have identified where the Lions must from here, although thier payroll really is not set up to make the move.
Winning takes team chemistry and being there before. Not only for the players being there, but for the coaches and management. To win a championship takes time to learn how to get there, then doing it. The second time is much easier than doing it the first time. I do not know if there is an exception to this in any sport except perhaps baseball.
That being said, I can think of only two people in the Lions organization that has been on a Super bowl team. They are Meyhew, and Harris (a back up Safety).
Unfortunately our payroll is not set up to make significent changes with the pay increases Stafford, Johnson, Suh and Fairley will receive for next year. If we were to go in this direction, several popular players would have to be let go this off season to bring in those type of experienced players. It may also help to look at to bring a person onto the coaching staff and a second voice into management.
Here is a question for you guys, since the Monte Clark era, name me 10 players other than Jon Janson and Larry Foote who has been on the Lions roster who had already been to the Super Bowl.
Um. The Gettysburg address was a speech, not a radio segment.
Ty, this site is getting ridiculous with ads. I was in a quiet library checking out your site today, get up to get some water while it loads, and a voice ad starts blaring through my speakers!
I know times are tough, and I hope your employment situation is ok, but this is getting kind of ridiculous!
