On Tuesday, December 13th, Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew is coming to Legends Sports & Games at the Woodland Mall in Grand Rapids. He’ll be there from 6:00 to 7:30 pm signing autographs, and I’ll be there, too—though I won’t be signing autographs. Well, I mean, I will sign if anyone asks . . .

Now this is the cool part: Legends is hooking me up with a Detroit Lions mini-helmet to give away. I still have a custom Lions DirecTV remote to give away, too, so, this’ll be a two-part deal.

GRAND PRIZE

detroit_lions_mini_helmet

One (1) Detroit Lions mini-helmet (similar to above), immediately autographable by Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew. Winner must be present at Legends Sports & Games, Woodland Mall, Grand Rapids on Tuesday December 13 between 6:00 pm & 7:30 pm.

FIRST PRIZE

detroit_lions_directv_remotedetroit_lions_directv_remote_2

One (1) custom Detroit Lions DirecTV remote (as shown above). Winner can be anywhere the USPS is willing to ship.

HOW TO ENTER

Just comment on this post with why you’re proud to be a Lions fan! Make sure you include your email or Twitter handle (or sign in to Disqus with same) so I can contact you, and whether you’ll be available to come to the signing or not (so I can enter you for the helmet or remote).

I’ll pick the winner at random LIVE on this week’s Fireside Chat, which broadcasts around 10:00 pm Sunday Night.

I love the Lions because one day they'll win it all, and all of this will be so worth it.

i'm proud to be a lion's fan, because they were the home of the greatest player ever, barry sanders! they might've hit rock bottom, but stafford and johnson will take them to the top!!

Can't be at the signing because I live in Massachusetts, but I want you to know I really appreciate your site. I've been a Detroit Lions fan since I was five years old, I'm nearly 50 now and I've lived and breathed Honolulu blue each Sunday in the fall for all the years in between. I'm originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, a rust-belt blue collar town much like Detroit. My dad gave me a winter hat with the Lions logo on it and that was it... I've been a Detroit sports team fan ever since.

I'm proud to be a Lion's fan because it's hard to be a Lion's fan. I try to teach my kids to not give up when the chips are down. Well, the Lions have been down a long time, but nothing is forever. We haven't forgotten how long our other sports teams were down? I live in Boston and it took the Red Sox nearly a hundred years to win it all again. We've seen the Tigers win. We've seen the Pistons win. We've seen the Red Wings win.

And someday...someday the Lions will win it all, too. And those of us who stayed true... everyone we know will understand that we never gave up on our team. Go LIONS!

I'll be there if I don't get stuck at work. I'm proud to be a Lions fan because they were the team that I grew up watching, each year bringing new hope and I think they are on the path to succeed. I've been a Lions fan even during the tough times, wearing the logo proud. twitter: @jasontwilliams

I've always been a Lions fan, but what's ironic is the debacle of the last decade has made me an even bigger one. I hit this site and all the beat sites on a daily basis to glean any info on my boys in Honolulu Blue.

Ever since I saw Detroit play on Thanksgiving (must've been 3 or 4) my brother and I were like that's our team. We aren't from Michigan, although our family lived in Ann Arbor for a few years while we were in college. How much do I love the Lions? I wave to every car (while proudly displaying my Lions logo on the back of my car) I see with Michigan license plates..... and I live in Nebraska.

I love the new team and attitude. Penalties are a bit much, but it beats 0-16. DETROIT!! Jonathon.Stellar@gmail.com

I'm proud to be a Lions fan because I've earned it. I grew up watching the transcendent Barry Sanders and the equally transfixing Wayne Fontes. I watched the team worsen year by year. i watched accomplish coach after accomplish coach bury their head-coaching careers. I watched Charles Rogers break his collarbone again and again and again. I endured dreadful quarterbacking. I can vividly recall hoping Charlie Batch would resurrect the franchise. I can just as vividly recall knowing Joey Harrington was not the answer (I actually thought Cade McKnown was better...oops). I've endured piss-poor football and am more appreciative of good football when I see it. For that, am forever grateful to the Lions of my youth and recent past. Today's version is certainly has some fatal flaws, but I haven't been a happier lions fan since Phil Luckett heard The Bus Call Heads :)

Cool giveaways. Would love to meet Pettigrew. Those two items would look great in anyone's Lions/Tigers man cave or basement.

Why am I proud to be a Lions fan? Simple question, complicated answer. I think the thing I am most proud of is they have shown me how to endure. I, unknown to even myself, have stuck with this team through thick and thin for as long as I can remember. Remaining a fan through the years of despair, through a move across the country, even through last weeks game against the Saints has shown that I can stay committed even when my faith is tested.
