Lions at Bengals: Gameday Discussion

It’s been a difficult week for Lions talk.  Between the long, long layoff, the Thanksgiving holiday season, the Lions’ record, and the dim prospect of winning this upcoming game, a lot of the enthusiasm’s been sapped.  Besides that, the college football season has finally begun in earnest, and hockey and basketball are underway, too.  People are more interested in discussing how the Lions can get their hands on Ndamukong Suh than if they can bottle up Chad Ochocinco (who, according to his Twitter feed, already has an elaborate celebration planned for when he scores).

However, the Bengals have been an inconsistent team--they lost to the Raiders!--and have a tendency to let inferior teams hang around with them until late in games. Maybe, just maybe, they'll extend us the same courtesy.  Whether or not they do, let’s talk about it in the comments below.

I can't believe how well the defense has played. The run-stopping, in particular, has been exceptional. DeAndre Levy has been blowing fools up. Will James has turned in an excellent performance . . . need more of that from him.

The swing of the missed Hanson FG and the Bengals' quick FG the other way might be the ballgame. Going into halftime down 10-14 is a lot different than going into halftime 7-17.

By the way, Mr. Ochocinco, the "celebration" of donning a sombrero and serape was completely lame.

. . . one wonders if the organization didn't get wind of it and force him to change his plans.

I was surprised at how well the defense actually played. Even though Benson went over 100 yards, without checking the stats, I think he was still held under four yards a crack. And Palmer really didn't do much.

That touchdown pass to St. Calvin was absolutely gorgeous too.

That fluky defelction/interception/touchdown and then the field goal at the end of the half were killer. That's the difference in the ballgame right there. In fact, the Lions held the Bengals to only one offensive touchdown.

er, uh, deflection

I'm not sure what a defelction would be, but it sounds vaguely dirty and disturbing.
