the lions congregation: week ten

congregation

Well, it’s time once again for the Lions Congregation—the weekly series over at the Church of Schwartz.  Men living lives committed in service to the Schwartz discourse upon these questions three:

  • Well respected ESPN columnist Kevin Seifert says the Lions have 7 keepers on their roster. Using his methodology, who do you see as a keeper on this roster?
  • Do the Lions need cheerleaders?
  • What’s your projected outcome for Browns – Lions?

Go, and enrich your soul with the answers!

1. Obviously, Stafford, Calvin, Pettigrew, and Delmas aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Kevin Smith has also performed well enough to feel safe. Contract-wise, I think the Oline quartet of Backus, Raiola, Peterman, and Cherilus are all still safe for another year.

2. No. They need good players.

3. 20-6 Lions.

Ty - I think you need a game day entry for those of us you feel they need to write during a game.

For instance, I had no creative outlet when I found out (by following on ESPN's website) that the Lions won on a penalty/free play/Stafford's freakin' amazingness. Al I could do was scream and shout and freak out my roommate.

Just a thought.

1. CJ, Stafford, Smith, Pettigrew, Delmas, Cherilus, Sims, Levy, and Jason Hanson are the keepers for a while.

2. I concur with Matt. We aren't the Clownboys who need something flashy to distract the fans from the (usually) crappy on field product.

3. Post game - I didn't think it would be this high scoring. Obviously when you combine an offense that can't score and a defense that can't stop anybody, the offense wins? My questions is: who wins if the Reds (Star Trek) face off against the Storm Troopers (Star Wars)?

Matt--

Yeah, there are STILL too many holes elsewhere to even think about dumping any of the the huge salaries of the Pretty Decent Quartet and starting over. A quality right guard has to be a priority, though; Backus has to have played next to like twenty or thirty guys by this point.

Peace
Ty

ALiVQT--

Oh man. That's a great idea. I really do need to do that! Consider gameday threads on from here on out.

Peace
Ty
