UPDATE: Comments are now fixed, as are a couple of other things. As always, you can still email me at thelionsinwinter@gmail.com.
I’ll keep this short and sweet: please, let me know what you think. Colors? Graphics? Fonts (still messing with this)? Please, I’d love to hear your impressions of things so far; just comment on this post.

Are comments up? I think they are!
I like it. It's a good blending of the old and the new. The meat of the site is still the same but the bread is fresher. I hope that makes sense.
Thanks man! It does make sense . . . it also makes me hungry. Ham, provolone, mustard, onion, fresh bread. NOW.
Peace

Ty,
I am fairly new to your site (about a month) and don't want to appear negative ......but I liked the old look much better. The sidebars make me feel like I am being squezzed in when I read the content, and they make my eyes wander towards them. i do like the colors and font though.
To follow-up on Neil's theme keep the breadsticks and salad, just bring me my entree.
Your new site layout:
I like the colors used in the border, and the design is cool (whatever it is. Ice perhaps?). But I do happen to agree with ltjg on how the content appears slightly compressed because of the color contrast on the outside. Also, when scrolling down the site, I find my eyes focusing too much on the border, instead of the content.
These are all very minor issues. If eveything stayed as it is now, that would be not at all a bad thing. You're trying something new, and that should be applauded. But if you decide to change anything, I would try to tweak the border so that it doesnt distract. Possibly, you could achieve this by simply phasing the image out as it moves toward the white content area instead of fading out towards the edge of the page. A more drastic change would be to use a slightly less "busy" image on the sides.
Finally, well done on the minor things: the font is perfect, although I suggest adjusting the bold font to appear slightly darker, the hypertext link color is spot on. Well done there.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting! I really appreciate your feedback. As I've been saying, I really liked the minimalist approach, too--I mean hey, that's what I chose given every available option!
However, from Day One I got a lot of feedback: where I saw fields of clean, stark, dramatic whitespace, a lot of people simply saw lo-fi Blogspot jankiness. Moreover, I've noticed that the whether the old layout looked good or not relied heavily on display type, display resolution, aspect ratio, browser, etc.
I've seen what you mean about the crowding of the content, and the distraction of the graphics . . . I'm working on it, even while we speak.
Peace

Thanks for all the kind words! I've gone back and forth on whether the ice--it is indeed ice--should fade to white at the edges, or in the middle. I decided on this layout because I was able to retain the plain white backdrop, which I think better carries forward the original design. Also, the ice fading to the hard blue borders clearly delineates the content section; I mean for the content to "pop" as much as possible.
However, I agree that the main content area is simply too small. I'm planning on slightly narrowing the ice graphics, squeezing the widget bar on the right a little, and giving the main text area a lot more elbow room. As I said to ltjg, I'm already playing with this.
Thanks for the compliments on the colors and fonts; I've been toying with those as well. Believe it or not, I actually use the HTML hex code for the official Honolulu Blue, as ripped off the leaked style sheet that Sean Yuille from Pride of Detroit got a hold of. I have to say, I'm quite pleased with the makeover so far, and with just a little more TLC in the aforementioned areas, I'll be just about completely satisfied.
Peace
Ty
