Apropos of nothing

Quick update: I’m still working on the SFE (UFR) of the offense vs. Atlanta, but there’s no way I’m missing out on watching the Great Lakes Classic.  I’ll be Tweeting throughout, though, so be sure to follow @lionsinwinter for more!  Storylines of note:

Ty, I see that you've succumb to the persuasive power of advertising. I just hope you're getting PAID!! Then again, it's was kinda weird reading about the lions w/ out a banner at the top of the screen. Now I feel much more at home;)

Scotty G--

Yeah, I've partnered with FantasyPlayers.com. They run a few ads on here, we both make a few bucks. In my site's entire existence, the Google AdSense ads that have run on here have made me ALMOST five dollars, so don't think I'm rolling in filthy lucre. I'm bummed to have to run any ads at all, but I think this is a great possibility for exposure, cross-site content, etc.; if I didn't think it was going to make TLIW better, I wouldn't have done it.

Peace
Ty

Anon--

I don't know why you're having trouble; a few folks have had weird trouble with the comments since I switched templates--but it's usually been a browser security issue, like blocking javascript or cookies.

You know, he hasn't sounded like Megatron, but I swear one of the other players introduced him, like "y'all welcome @cjohnson81lions to twitter!". I'll check up on it; thanks for the tip.

Peace
Ty

Hmm. Looks like John Niyo retweeted something from @cjohnson81lions--he'd definitely be in position to know. The welcome tweet I dimly remembered was from @971theticketxyt: "@Cjohnson81lions Welcome to Twitter! Follow Calvin Johnson." However, he called Donte Stallworth "brah". I am not thinking that the publicly stoic Megatron would ever do that . . . or really, use Twitter for that matter.

More updates as I dig deeper.

Peace
Ty

not only that, he players he has tweeted to haven't even gave him a reply back....you'd think they'd be all over spreading his twitter account on their own account....and another thing, he's not very articulate or grammatically sound as i'm sure CJ is IRL....i know TJ Duckett is following him but so far he's the only PLAYER doing so....and he's calling us Lions Fans as opposed to twitter nation like all the other players do....something stinks....

Why not consider the Lions this year as an expansion team with appropriate expectations....eg. very low. Half the team is new, and the starting nine on Def and Off have not really played together. In watching pre-season games, I've not seen a team that could not handle the Lions fairly easily. Now, over the next three years, with good drafts, a group who get to know each other with Stafford maturing, I can see something of real improvement. Until then, keep expectations low, real low and just suffer along.

Was there are a rules change in the NFL this season? Did I miss that they're playing 9-on-9 now? Man, economy's hitting EVERYONE hard.

After watching one pre-season game, I would not say that the Atlanta Falcons could handle the Lions easily. But what do I know (other than how to read a scoreboard)?
