arrrrrrgh

>> 12.09.2009

I’ve been running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit on this laptop for somewhere around a year, maybe more.  Just now, its very first Blue Screen of Death ate this week’s Watchtower.  Don’t worry, all the research wasn't lost, but I’ll be a little bit behind in posting the analysis.  My apologies.

Ty,
perhaps it is my computer, but the ads seem to be affecting the functionality of the site. The location of the one at the top especially seems to be one of those very annoying kinds. And the one at the bottom isnt gelling well with the template.

You might be working out the kinks still, but I thought I'd let you know my opinion on the subject.

David--

Okay, is a specific ad or ads? They do rotate, so if there's one very specific rollover or popup that's breaking things, PLEASE let me know in a comment or email--it's entirely possible that I haven't seen it yet. Oh, and let me know what browser you're using if you do. I CAN do something about specific poorly-coded, or obtrusive, ads.

Unfortunately, with the standards and nature of online advertising these days, I can't go to my advertising partner and tell them to not run any popups/popunders/rollovers at all.

Peace
Ty

Ty,
the ad that was acting weird at the bottom of the etmplate is no longer there. So that issue is resolved. However, the strange behavior that the site was exhibiting can only be described as slightly laggy. The ads, ad I scrolled down the page would duplicate momentarily during the scrolling motion. But its not a big issue.
By the way, I was using Firefox as my browser.

Finally, I havent used any ads on my site yet, and am a little curious how you were able to get an advertising partner. Did they come to you or what?

Thanks,

David

I will say that the "lag" is sometimes due to my image hosts--I don't have my own domain or server space, and some of my graphics are a little wonky as a result. I hope to have that all taken care of this offseason . . .

Yes, my ad partner approached me--I'm very lucky too; I'm certainly one of the smallest sites they work with.

Peace
Ty
